PIN Setup

PIN Setup

Once you have enrolled your biometrics on your Multi-Pass Pro, the first thing you must do is change your default PIN. Your PIN serves as a failsafe, providing an alternative authentication factor in case your biometric validation fails.

This section will cover the steps required to change your default PIN on your Multi-Pass Pro. Windows Hello tools will be used to enable this change. Please ensure you have your default PIN with you before starting the process (note: this is provided in your Multi-Pass Pro starter kit).

PIN Setup

Now that your biometrics have been successfully registered, you can proceed to change your default PIN following the 7 steps below.

Step 1.

Using your Windows search function, type “security key” on the search tool.

Step 2.

Select the “Set up security key“ option.

Step 3.

On the right-hand side, you’ll notice a section for “Security Key”. Expand this section and select “Manage“.

(Note: You can also access this option by navigating to the following path:

Windows > Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options > Security Key > Manage)

Step 4.

A prompt will appear asking to “Tap your security key on the reader…”. At this point, hold your Multi-Pass Pro with your finger on the biometrics sensor and tap your card on your reader. Ensure you keep holding the card on the reader until Windows displays the option to update the PIN (approx. 6+ seconds).

Step 5.

When prompted to modify your security PIN, select the “change” security key PIN option.

Step 6.

A new prompt will appear. Enter your old PIN, your new PIN, and select OK. The PIN can be alphanumeric and can include basic special characters (e.g. !@#$%?&*()^~) and must be between 4-63 characters inclusively.

Step 7.

Once you’ve selected “OK” or hit “Enter”, tap your Multi-Pass Pro card on your NFC reader to complete your PIN change.

Congratulations! You have successfully changed your default PIN on your Multi-Pass Pro and are ready to get started!
